Paneled Walls- So 2000 and Late?

Paneled walls- does the idea make you shutter?  I tend to visualize the 70s and those horrible wood paneled walls that look cheap and claustrophobic.   So when our design firm met with a client and proposed to do their living room walls in a panel style last week, I was as surprised as you that they agreed.  But no dark wood paneling in this job!  Something a little more along the lines of this...

Classic, warm, and textured.

With a more classic shade of white, I think large, long panels can look rather regal.
Are you a fan?  Would you ever do this in your home?

  2. I LOVE all those panels. I love the big lofty ones the best. Like you find is super-sweet older apartments in cities.. with so much freakin charm! i like things like wainscotting/bead board/70's wood paneling in a split level den MUCH less :)

  13. I wouldn't choose paneled walls for my apartment but since most of the apartment in the UK are really really old, I got used to the fact that paneled walls are not that bad. It depends on how you create the whole atmosphere in the room and what kind of art you choose to display (and how!)

    Have a lovely day!

  14. I loooove paneled walls. I don't know what it is about them but I think they're such a great way to dress up a room instead of wallpaper or such. I think all the pictures you choose really portray pretty examples of paneled walls too.
