Needing, Wanting, Loving: Eskayel Textiles

I became enamored with interior design when I started to realize what an impact our surroundings have on our mood and sense of well-being.  Creating the right vibe for a space to serve it's intended purpose is the ultimate goal- whether it be a soothing bedroom or a happy, lively family room with lots of good energy.  Selecting the right textiles for a project is of utmost importance, and to me it has become increasingly important that the design feel both uplifting and innovative.  That's why I was instantly blissed out when I discovered Eskayel.  Based in Brooklyn, this textile company produces whimsical wallpapers and fabrics that are inspired by nature and incredibly unique- so unique that Moda Operandi's artistic director, Taylor Tomasi Hill, chose their Dynasty wallpaper to grace her entryway:

Studio McGee also used Eskayel's Dynasty wallpaper in their client's chic powder bath:

Benni Amadi, a San Francisco-based designer, also used Dynasty in a powder bathroom, and the bold color and pattern is perfect for a small space:

Delicious, no?

One thing I've learned since moving to Manhattan is that most of the cool, forward-thinking artists live in Brooklyn.  Such is the case with Eskayel founder, Shanan Campanaro. Shannon owns a live/work studio in Williamsburg where she runs her company and creates her distinctive designs. She launched Eskayel in 2008, and has since created six major collections with more than 200 patterns, and has expanded her line to include custom rugs, pillows, baskets, prints, scarves, and even more- like these covetable phone cases.  Eskayel is sold through Studio Four NY, ABC Carpet & Home, or via their website.  While I love the large repeat of Dynasty as well as the blotchy, watercolor feel it exudes, I'm also a fan of their Feudal Facet wallcovering, shown in slate here:

Eskayel's Akimbo wallpaper in greyscale feels tribal yet calming:
