Curb Appeal

As much as I love living in a big city, I do dream of having my own home with a yard one day.  I'm so fascinated by landscape design and how exterior details of a home can enhance the curb appeal.  As I've said over and over again, nothing is more classic to me than steel-framed windows against white stucco.  This Spanish-style home was built in LA in 1923, and the overall exterior look + landscaping is my dream:

I am most drawn to Spanish and Mediterranean style homes, with their low-pitched clay tile roofs, stucco finish, balconies and archways, and extensive outdoor spaces:

However, a classic home with well-thought-out details never fails to charm.  I love the pitched roof above this exterior door, as well as the gray color of the shutters, door, and gate:

Or the glossy blue used on the shutters at Isabel Lopez-Quesada's Madrid villa:

Isabel worked with landscape guru Fernando Caruncho to design her terrace shown above, with flowering jasmine and tidy strands of bamboo. Fernando also conceived the unassuming swimming pool spanning the terrace's rear wall. I love the boxwood hedge that divides the pool from he rest of the terrace.

And again, I love steel-framed windows and doors, especially when they lead out on to gorgeous backyard spaces:

A classic white brick home located in Houston features an interesting door design that gives the home subtle curb appeal.  And how beautiful is the tree growing across the front of the home?

I can't wait for the day when I (hopefully) have a yard of my own.  A pool wouldn't be too bad, either.  What sort of homes are you most drawn to?
