Happy Monday my dears! Did you have a fun St. Patrick's Day? I worked on projects for finals this week but managed to sneak out last night for a few hours to down a frozen green margarita. The good news is finals will be over Tuesday and I can resume my normal social life, at least until next term gets crazy!
Today I wanted to share my love for decorative busts. As an advocate for mixing antique with modern, there's no better way to add a touch of classicism than with an antique bust. They can be placed on an entryway table for all to revere, or serve as a necklace holder for a quirky touch:
I had a moment when I spotted this bust in one of my favorite local stores, Kuhl-Linscomb:

Covered in geodes and seashells?! What could be better? Unfortunately the price tag was more than I could bear, but every time I visit the store I stop by and say "hi" to my favorite little lady. I wish I had the funds to adopt her but I trust she'll find a good home.
What's your take on decorative busts?

I'm obsessed with them! Check out my post later today...
ReplyDeletePicking out yet another Craigslist bust find today ****I'm addicted****
I love mine, we refer to him as "little man". I found him at home goods!
ReplyDeleteI love them too!!! and have my eye open for one as well....Funny because my husband has one in his library and ever since we got married I wanted to hide that thing....and now I have gotten so used to her...and actually want to steal it!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, the decorative busts are such a great idea to add a traditional touch to a modern decor. And they are so practical, too! I love the bust from your local store - so unique and original!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting one too, but have hard time finding one that wouldn't scare me in the middle of the night when I walk through my house to get some water - they can be really frightening!
ReplyDeleteBusts are one of my favourite decorative elements. My style used to be purely traditional, but as I get older I prefer a mix of modern and traditional. I have three busts (two human, one animal) already, but am always on the lookout for more. I absolutely adore your Lady of the Seashells - it must have been tough to have to leave her in the store!
ReplyDeleteI love them! I would love to place one in a really regal dining room on a pedestal. I think you should definitely get one -- it would go so well in your home.

I've actually been on the hunt for the perfect one for my fireplace! I wanted a vintage one that I could paint the lips pink.
ReplyDeleteI have one from my Nana and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this trend, I actually posted about it not too long ago! World Market and Etsy have some super affordable options!! LOve all of your inspiration pics!

I love them. Especially when they are just cheeky enough! I actually worked for the company who makes and sells that kulh-linscomb bust. It is very unique. xo
ReplyDeleteI love a good bust all dolled up with hats and jewelry! My neighbor has a stone bust entrenched in an ivy spot in her back yard. Very secret garden-esk, he looks intentionally lost - very lovely :)
ReplyDeleteShe is very cool.
ReplyDeleteOnce in a blue moon, a weird bust will turn up where you least expect - like a TJ Maxx.
I love this look! A college girlfriend had one in her room in the sorority house decked out with all kinds of fabulous jewelry. Jealousy to this very day!
ReplyDeleteLove that third one with the hat and scarf - so fun!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya on the busts. I've been obsessed with Michelle Adams' apartment for quite awhile, so glad to see you included her impeccably styled booshelf in this round up. Good luck on your hunt!
ReplyDeleteI have a few small ones but would love a bigger one to hold my necklaces like in these pictures! Great inspiration. I may need to go hunt at some of my favorite antique shops! xo
ReplyDeleteOMG the third one slays me!
ReplyDeleteI love decorative busts! Can't use them for staging. People think I'm staging using old yard sale stuff.
ReplyDeletelove this post! decorative busts can look so amazing in many different settings. xoxo - julie
ReplyDeleteI love this too - mixing old with new, antique with modern interior design - it's chic.

I have a Josephine (as in "and Napoleon") bust on my dresser to display necklaces. Pretty!
ReplyDeleteAGREED. Times two. I want one so bad!!!
ReplyDeleteBefore I moved, I had a Buddha bust on my dressing table (that i had bought ugly from tjmaxx and repainted). I had friends over and their four year old asked me who was the lady and we could we dress her up. I laughed then. Who knew she was on trend :)
