I was recently hired by a local couple to design their first baby's nursery. Their home is full of warm colors and has a very elegant feel, and they would like to carry that through to the nursery. Obviously I was on board! Nothing seems sweeter to me than planning a room for a newborn:
So what are some key elements of a "luxurious" nursery? I think a "wow" light fixture, something furry, an upholstered crib, and perhaps something mirrored are all ideal...
I'm so excited to begin pulling together a design for my client. With a due date of mid September, we're working with a tight timeline! But I always love a challenge.
What would your dream nursery look like?
I love where you are going with this!

precious!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, what a lucky little one :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the first inspiration picture you put up, but I always thought that nurseries are suppose to be colorful because babies need color stimulation to promote development. Is that right, or am I misinformed?
ReplyDeleteHi Irina- I actually believe the opposite. I've been taught that using jarring colors and patterns in the bedroom can cause nervous irritability!
DeleteI should say, if a toddler or infant is showing development issues, a sensory environment is helpful, as evidence-based design has shown. But if possible, a separate playroom with textures, colors, noise stimulation, etc might be better rather than in the actual nursery.
DeleteThat first nursery is dreamy! Well, they all are. What a fun project!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun project! Cannot wait to see how it turns out
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the idea of interesting light fixtures and something furry. Will you post the finished product? Can't wait to see!

ReplyDeleteNurseries and kis rooms are the MOST fun to decorate! Adore that chandelier!
ReplyDeleteOMG! whatever you pick its going to be beautiful. I don't even think I would let my baby sleep in there, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteomg that crib is AMAZING!!! love all of this. i would add a plush wall-to-wall rug to the mix too.
ReplyDeleteThe most elegant nursery design I have ever laid eyes on, I adore the pale blue stripe wallpaper!

I love this whole concept...especially that light fixture and amazing crib! Can't wait to see the finished product!!
ReplyDeleteVery Glam!!! But would probably only do this for a baby girl, if it was a boy I would probably add more rustic colors or manly touches. Beautiful Concept!
ReplyDeleteWhere is that upholstered crib from? It really is the most elegant thing I have ever seen!
ReplyDeleteThanks...
