The Pussy Bow Blouse

No, I didn't just use a profanity in my post title.  I promise.  I'm talking about the chic girly blouse that has seen a resurgence in the last two seasons.  And if you don't trust me, you are more than welcome to look it up.  It's called the Pussy Bow Blouse!  And it's ever so tres chic!

As with any outfit, wearing a pussy bow blouse properly means paying attention to balance.  If you want to wear it loose, be sure to pair it with skinny jeans or a tight skirt to give yourself some shape.  If you plan on wearing it tucked in at the waist, pair it with wide-leg trousers or an A-line skirt to create an hourglass shape.  Here are my favorite neutral-toned bow blouses:

Accessorizing a Princess

It's no secret around here that I love The Coveteur.  Something about the mystery of seeing little snapshots of a person's closet rather than the whole room really intrigues me.  You can really get an idea of who the person is from the kinds of items that are featured and the decor that surrounds the items.   Today I am featuring all things pink, sparkly, fluffy, ruffly, lacy, and fit for a princess... taken from the archives of The Coveteur.  Let's start with these killer Chanel pumps and pink retro phone featured in Celine Kaplan's home

Emily Current, an LA-based stylist who works in collaboration with Meritt Elliot as MAUDE, has a beautiful laced mini dress hanging over the infamous For Like Ever print.

Annabel Tollman, British stylist and journalist, displays her beautiful vintage watch collection.

Yes, that's a real albino peacock, sporting a Kate Spade necklace.  None other than Deborah Lloyd, President and Creative Director of Kate Spade, would allow this to happen.

Sarah Riff, director of entertainment relations at Jimmy Choo, features these sparkly flats on her pink suede headboard.  Ohhhhh how I love.

Cher Coulter, co-founder of Jewelmint, has the perfect purse for a princess- a fluffy white Chanel!

Nicky Hilton goes girly with a pink Chanel bag and Gucci dress.

Meritt Elliott is a stylist in LA. and has styled both Mary Kate Olsen and Reese Witherspoon.  How gorgeous are the collection of candles and crystal candlesticks in her LA home?

Charlotte Ronson, NY based designer, shows off an elegant vintage gown gifted to her by her mother.

Dee Dee Taylor Eustance is an interior designer and architect in Toronto.  I can't decide whether her Moschino pink jacket or her French-style couch is more lovely.

How pretty is Dee Dee's vintage slip?

Aren't these accessories divine?  I wish I could be a princess!  Maybe I am trying to be one in my own way, as I naturally gravitate towards all things shiny, sparkly, pink, fluffy............

Monday Morning Inspiration: Well-Styled Powder Rooms

I love a beautiful powder room.  Don't you?  Although the space is typically very minimal, there are endless options for styling it well.

A powder room is a great area to wallpaper.  Bold patterned wallpaper adds drama and compensates for a lack of furniture or space.  Plus, you won't tire of the wallpaper since the powder room is rarely used, except by guests.

Another way to add style to a guest bathroom is to decorate it as you would any other room- add a throw rug, hang a piece of art, or even add a fun ottoman!

Finally, add a little touch of style to your powder bath by adding fresh cut flowers and bathroom essentials in pretty jars.

Vintage Chic Wedding Inspiration

Friday is upon us, friends!  I am so looking forward to this weekend.  Nothing too special is planned- just lots of rest, relaxation, and a photography class!  It's time I learned how to use that DSLR camera, don't ya think?
Since wedding season is just over the horizon, I decided to share some wedding inspiration with you today.  The theme is "vintage chic." Soft, feminine touches.  Antique furniture.  Rustic chairs.  Classic elegance.  Although my tastes are quite eclectic, I think this might be my dream wedding palette.

The View Through My Lens: 2

Here's what the view through my lens has been looking like lately...

Bubble bath+latest edition of Vogue, hot green tea at the salon, a view of my bedside table, lots of fun time with my girlfriends, and a bowl of conversation hearts from my dinner party.
All shots were taken via my Instagram.

Today I am over at A Simple Affair posting about my favorite things that start with the letter "T".  Here's a little sneak peek for you...

Wednesday Workspace

Now that we have all over-indulged ourselves with a nice steak dinner and a box of chocolates, it's time to get down to work!   And I know you wouldn't dream of getting down to business in anything less than a tres chic workspace... now would you?

This desk has me swooning almost more than my Valentine's date.  The fold-out desk is such a space-saver.  The shape is quite unique and would provide some delicious eye candy at the end of a hall.  The orange card-catalog drawers add storage and visual appeal.  Don't even get me started on that chair!  The brass foundation and white cushion creates a luxe combination.

This design library was designed by Bunny Williams.  She sourced an antique Swedish bed corona- an architectural crown from which fabric would drape as a canopy over a bed- as a focal point above the planning table.  I also really love the symmetry in this room- it adds a sense of structure.

Lulu Powers designed this cheery desk space.   Maybe it's the matching pink lamps, maybe it's the picture of JFK (my favorite President of all time), or maybe it's the organized chaos.  Whatever it is- I just adore it!  I really would love to sit down at this Mac everyday and compose my blog posts.

This desk space captured my heart because it combines my favorite color combo= blue+pink+gold.  There really is nothing better!  I also go crazy for just about anything lucite, so the chair was a no-brainer.  I also love all the adorable envelope and card organizers, and the photos that add a personal touch.

Until I can create a luxe office space of my own, I'll continue to communicate with all of you from my comfy bed, laptop on my belly, wine on the bedside table.  I know I just created a great mental picture for you. :)

Cheers to Wednesday, my loves!

All-Girls Dinner Party

Happy Valentine's Day to all my sweets!  If I had the funds, I would send each of you flowers  and a glass of champagne to let you know you're loved.

As I posted about here, I threw an all-girls Valentine's Day dinner party this past Friday.  It was such a fun time!  We had multiple  champagne cocktails, salad, fettuccine alfredo, and red velvet cupcakes.  Festive macaroons were also served!
My kitchen is on the second floor of the house, so when guests arrived there was an elderflower elixir waiting for them by the staircase.

This cocktail is super easy to make.  Combine 3 parts champagne with one part St. Germain elderflower liquor.  Drop in a raspberry for garnish.  The elderflower adds a fruity flavor to the champagne.  Even the pickiest of drinkers will love it!

Here is my tablescape.  I love my French table, so I couldn't stand the thought of covering it with a tablecloth.  Instead, I opted for a homemade table runner.  I first saw the idea here.  My sweet boyfriend helped me glue white and red heart dollies together to create the runner. He gets a few brownie points for that one!  I picked out two white hydrangeas for the centerpiece and surrounded them with mercury glass candles from Anthropologie.
And what Valentine's Day event would be complete without conversation hearts?

Reminiscent of second grade crushes, I just had to have a few dishes of them on hand. Each place setting had these darling napkins from Anthropologie (can you tell I am obsessed yet?).  Since this party's focus was to celebrate friendship, I also included a quote about friendship on each plate.  The quotes were typed out on vintage cardboard.

Lavender, raspberry and chocolate macaroons were served in girly colors.  The red velvet cupcakes on the bottom platter had festive hearts as a topping.

Here's another picture of the table I took via my Instagram.

I am so glad I got to catch up over dinner with my girlfriends.  Their friendships really have meant the world to me and made me feel so at home in Houston.  Here's a photo of my friend Carol, me, and my friend Hope.

I'm thankful I managed to pull this off with no fires or major disasters.  Now I need to find a good excuse to throw another dinner party!  Happy Valentine's Day! :)
