Designer Crush: Amy Berry

Happy Wednesday!  We are already halfway through the week.  Is this one flying by for anyone else?!  I guess with the weather being gross and rainy here in Houston, I've been getting in bed earlier than normal most nights.  Today I wanted to share with you a new-to-me designer I have fallen in love with- Amy Berry.  I first came across Amy's work through her adorable instagram account, where she shows snapshots here and there of her design work:

Based in Dallas, Amy attended school at London's Inchbald School of Design and then went on to work for Pierre Frey and Volga Linen.  She returned to Dallas and launched her design business, Amy Berry Design, in 2012.  Although relatively young, Amy's talent is undeniable.  Her ability to design with a both contemporary and traditional sensibility is inspiring- whether it be a lacquered library or a soft, neutral living room.

Are you ready to see the world's chic-est nursery?

That lucite crib is everything, and I think this infant's wardrobe is more fabulous than mine!

Not only would I like to live within one of her rooms, I'd also happily take this adorable golden doodle!  I'm excited to follow Amy's work and see what she dreams up next.

Color Crush: Canary Yellow (Pt. 2)

Did you guys watch the Golden Globes on Sunday?  I recorded it and haven't had a chance to sit down and watch it just yet (although I heard Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's Cosby commentary was on point), but of course I stalked the fashion sites to see what all the stars wore.  Without a doubt my favorite look was Naomi Watts' gorgeous yellow Gucci gown.  To top it off, her accessories were perfect.  I LOVE her necklace and red lip:

Yellow is such a bold and fun choice for the red carpet, and it immediately reminded me of my color crush post last week on canary yellow.  I find it equally as appealing for fashion as I do for interior design.  And although I realize most of us will not be donning a floor length gown any time soon, I did find a suitable alternative look with fun, punchy accessories:

Designer Crush: Aerin Lauder

Today's designer crush isn't exactly an interior designer, but more of a lifestyle designer.  Aerin Lauder, the granddaughter of famed cosmetic guru Estée Lauder, serves as the style and image director of Estee Lauder Companies while also managing her lifestyle brand, AERIN.  Lauder launched AERIN in 2012, combining her passion for home decor with her knowledge of beauty.  The brand features everything from jewelry, handbags, and fragrances to home decor and furniture... and let me say- it does not disappoint.

Although Aerin is not an interior designer by profession, she definitely has an exquisite eye and refined taste. I was scrolling through my instagram on Christmas and came across this post of her library that literally stopped me in my tracks.  Have you ever seen a space so cozy and perfect for the holiday?

This library is in her oft-published Manhattan home, which was designed in collaboration with Jacques Grange.  The rest of the home is jaw-dropping as well:

{How gorgeous is her dressing room and boudoir?  The Gracie wallpaper is everything}

Aerin's grandmother's Hamptons home, where her family lived for a time, was featured on Vogue back in 2011.  You probably recognize a few of the photos because it was pinned and re-pinned like crazy:

{I LOVE The Frances Elkins Loop Chair Barstools- you may remember I'm obsessed with them!}

 {I LOVE the marble fireplace.  At CHI we recently reconstructed a client's fireplace using this very image as inspiration}

 Another thing I admire about Aerin is that she doesn't shy away from pattern- as can be seen in the gorgeous bedroom wallpaper above.  I also love the Pierre Frey Toile de Nantes print in her Southhampton bedroom.  The print is so bright and lively!

But maybe my favorite Aerin space of all is the black lacquered library in her Hamptons home:

I also recently purchased her coffee table book, Beauty at Home, and every page is delicious.  AERIN is definitely a style muse for me, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Color Crush: Canary Yellow

When I saw the January/February issue of Elle Decor, I was instantly drawn to the vintage canary yellow armchairs in this Milan apartment living room.  They remind me of a modernized version of Marcel Breur's cantilever chair:

This gorgeous space belongs to J.J. Martin, a fashion journalist who spent the past few years renovating this lovely top-floor apartment in Milan.   In my opinion, the magazine is worth picking up for this article alone, simply because the apartment tour is full of fabulous finds and well-edited rooms.  It's truly remarkable how much of a statement a pop of yellow can make in a room:

Canary yellow also makes quite a lovely fashion statement....

...lest we forget the canary Vera Wang gown Michelle Williams donned at the 78th Academy Awards?

And I LOVE to see the hue paired with turquoise or navy:

The bold colors play so well together.

So tell me- are you a fan, too?

The View Through My Lens: 25

Hello, hello my loves!  Did you have a good holiday and New Year?  Mine was full of family time, relaxation, and recharging.  After a busy and eventful 2014, I was thankful for a few weeks of rest.  Nonetheless, I am so thrilled for 2015 and excited to be back blogging and sharing with you all.  But before we delve in to 2015, I thought I'd share a quick picture update of how I closed out 2014:

{All the ladies I work with at Courtney Hill Interiors and I enjoyed a Christmas lunch complete with a few glasses of Prosecco}

{My friend Jennifer and I at our Senior Portfolio Show at the Art Institute of Houston}

{My parents came down from Oklahoma to see me graduate with my BFA in Interior Design!  Here I am with my mom before the ceremony}

{My niece, Lillian, my dad, and I trying out my new selfie stick on Christmas Day}

{A few new coffee table books I scored for Christmas- Avedon and de Kooning}

{The comforts of home}

{And of course, what would a holiday be without a few indulgent meals?  I enjoyed the seafood risotto and a glass of Maximin Grunhaus Riesling with a friend at Backstreet Cafe, one of my favorite Houston restaurants}

Are you ready for the new year yet?  Any good New Year's Resolutions?
