One of the reasons I chose to pursue a career in interior design is because of the endless possibilities to utilize your creativity and vision in your designs. While there are timeless principles such as scale and function that must always be considered, there really is no set formula for defining your personal aesthetic. The sky is the limit!
I recently stumbled upon a new-to-me interior designer and instantly fell in love with her portfolio. Full of punchy color, French accents, and bold patterns, Melissa Rufty's work left me nothing short of inspired.
Melissa's firm, MMR Interiors, is located on New Orleans’ famed Magazine Street. It is from New Orleans that much of Melissa’s inspiration originates…the fabulous antique stores, modern art galleries, local artisans, vintage lighting and hand-embroidered linens, to name a few. Her designs are relaxed and chic but never trendy. Melissa carefully layers rooms with interesting color combinations, comfortable furniture, and meaningful accessories.
Lacquered black walls, touches of animal print, gold accents and hand-selected accessories are what my dreams are made of. Isn't Melissa's work inspiring?
