Decorating on a Budget: Easy Art

I am always on the lookout for new and interesting art to decorate with.  I like the feel of a collected home, with objects and pieces layered, rather than anything that feels a little "too" designed.  Today I thought I'd share my favorite way to add a bit of affordable art to your space.  All you need is one or two inspiring coffee table books & a frame of your choice!

Step 1: Find a page from one of your favorite coffee table books that you really love to look at.  This picture of Audrey Hepburn is from Audrey 100, a coffee table book full of intimate portraits of Audrey and her family.  I just adore this photo!

Step 2:  Place the picture in a frame of your choosing.  I chose to place this photo in a simple black frame that I got at Hobby Lobby for around $5.
 Ta-da!

I used the same frame for a gorgeous Edie Sedgwick drawing I got off Etsy:

Here's another page from a coffee table book called The Allure of Women that I framed for my dresser:

Easy peasey lemon breezy! :)  Here's a photo of my dresser vignette with the various framed pictures:

I apologize for the low resolution photos.  They were taken with my iPhone, as my point and shoot is broken.  Sorry lovelies!  In other news, I am guest posting on Sadie+Stella today, about how to recreate this fabulous room originally featured in Canadian House & Home:

I hope you will check out the post. Have a great Tuesday!  XO,  Sam

  2. Love that bureua vignette! That is a MacDaddy mirror.I never considered framing pictures from coffee table books. (Probably because I'm a chicken about cutting up books.) It is a great idea!

  11. Try 5dollarframes.com. they have the best frames at the best price. I recently just ordered some and I am very pleased with what I got. I like the idea of getting art from books too. You can also buy cheap art books from the book store and do the same thing. good tip!

  14. funny that you post about easy decorating...because I'm in the process of re-arranging, re-vamping my room...and this is exactly what I needed for inspirations and ideas! I started placing all my 'coffee table books' together so I can stack them on a night stand later!
