Detail I Love: Couch Piping

Design is all in the details.  That's often why someone hires an interior designer.  They may have a vision of what they want their home to look like, but creating that design can be elusively difficult, and it's often due to an oversight in details.  One detail I am especially drawn to is piping.  I love to see an upholstered piece that is accented with a piping detail in a different color.  Just like a frame draws your eye to a picture, piping can make a piece of furniture pop.

As you can see, piping works really well with bold color contrast.  Black with white, magenta with coral, etc.  My boyfriend just looked over my shoulder and said "Hmmm.  I really like that!" to the last image.  So I guess we get the male stamp of approval on this detail!

Happy Thursday all!  I hope you had a fab Halloween.

P.S.  Brighton of Brighton the Day was kind enough to have me over yesterday for a guest post.  I hope you will check it out!  Her blog is adorable.

  2. Your assessment of the difficulty in designing for clients is the issue in our home and my husbands biggest gripe with me (he's an ID). Love the piping detailing! These color combos are so perfect!
