Needing, Wanting, Loving: A Purple Sofa

As you know, I'm a "play it safer" when it comes to the larger pieces of furniture.  I much prefer my sofas to be a neutral shade with pops of color incorporated through pillows, a throw, or a piece of artwork above.  But as I sit back and consider that the days of living alone are likely numbered, I'm tempted to buy a lavender settee or sofa.  Something similar to this delicious one:

To increase the drama, why not buy one in a darker, velvet fabric, pair it with a nude photo and a chandelier?  I wouldn't mind turning my living room in to a pseudo-harem... (just kidding!):

The romantic in me craves this tufted chesterfield.  Or maybe it's this room that I truly crave.  The sofa the perfect pop of color in this soft, subdued palette:

This classic settee paired with an emerald green wall color makes such an impact.  I love that a juju hat was added as wall decor!  It adds a certain playfulness, don't you think?

If I was much swankier (read: wealthier), and perhaps had a castle, I'd love to call this my living room.  Such a regal design:

Do tell:  what are you needing, wanting, loving these days??

  3. Purple is my favorite color! I successfully convinced my hubby to paint our bedroom purple. Eventually, it had to go back to white because we were leaving and needed to rent out the place. I could definitely go for a purple couch though. Esther Norine Designs

  9. I have been craving something in deep purple velvet as well! I blogged about it not too long ago....LOVE! so sumptuous. Not sure if I would be brave enough to do a whole couch but definitely a side chair or something. YUm!

  10. I think the light purple is so gorgeous! It would pretty hard for me to invest in something so large in a non-neutral color, but then again, you only live once :) Thanks for sharing!

  19. I absolutely LOVE each and every one of these!! I just read your story of how you left your job and started pursuing your dream, its really very inspirational especially to me because I've been thinking of interior design as well. Its always been something I love although I do really enjoy my current job as well, it being what I majored on in college.

  20. When I was rooming with another girl right out of college, the very first thing we bought for our apartment was a purple couch- much like the eggplant sofa pictured 4th from the top. That was our thinking as well. When would we ever be able to have a couch this color again? That same couch made it's way around the friend circuit and is currently sitting in a bachelor pad shared by several guys who think it's "pimp" (Lol!). I say go for it. I can't tell you how much I loved that couch.
