Friday's Worthy Links - 1.19.18

Happy Friday!  Better late than never, right?  I meant to hit "publish" on this post before work, but then the morning and the day slipped past me.  I hope everyone has a fabulous, relaxing weekend- and if you're going to the Women's March in NYC tomorrow, I hope to see you there!  Get all the details here

Friday's Worthy Links:

Why the Aziz Ansari story is important.  (amen to this...)

The danger of convenience.

Michael Phelps bravely reveals his struggle with depression.

The weekend is here which means it's time to party!  8 notable people recall their favorite soirees.  Speaking of parties, I'd love to have one on the horizon so I could justify buying this for it.

Tory Burch's style editor Grace Sickles had a truly glamorous wedding celebration (of course she did).  I'm swooning over the photos.

Feeling this.

A stylish (and affordable) coat that's perfect for the current frigid temps, and loving these pants.

A year in Melania's world.  My heart kind of breaks for her... she seems so oddly lonely.

Dreaming of escaping to a balmy locale, and @taramilktea 's instagram is the perfect source of inspiration.

A new workout collection that could get me to the gym, stat.

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, I recommend going to see I, Tonya or Lady Bird in the theater.  The Post was good, too, but I wasn't as fascinated with the actor's performances as I thought I'd be.   Any other movies I should check out during freezing January?!

XOXO,

Sam

Friday's Worthy Links:

-Someone who's finally saying something positive about millennials.

-Thoughts on New Years Resolutions from a New Yorker writer.

-If you need a good laugh and/or a mental break, watching this never gets old.

-Oprah for Prez 2020- everything you need to know.

-Ahhhh.... a few lovely, nameless feelings.

-My new style icon: Prince George.  I cannot get over how insanely adorable this kid is.

-Loved reading my friend Sophie's experience getting naked with 10 other gals in a Finnish sauna.

-Rag & Bone (aka my favorite brand of all time) is having a 40% off sale with code EXTRA40.  Love this, this, and this.

-Urban Outfitters is also having 40% off this weekend for items from their home/apartment collection.  Someone please buy this chic sofa (for under $700!) or this sleeper (or this cute one) for under $600.  More finds: the cutest to-go containers ever, a fun twist on the typical self-help book, this, these, this, and this.  Happy Shopping!

Have a good weekend!

Friday's Worthy Links 11.10.17

Happy Friday!  Any fun weekend plans in the works?  I'm planning to jaunt up to Storm King with some friends tomorrow morning and I'd also like to watch the new Joan Didion documentary on Netflix at some point.  The film is directed by her nephew Griffin Dunne, and explores both her personal struggles and remarkable writing career. It's bound to be fascinating.  Read on for Friday's links...

Friday's Worthy Links:

-Rare antique pieces, furniture and art from iconic designer Jacques Grange's personal collection will be up for auction at Sotheby's on November 21st in Paris (collectors rejoice!).  Among the items are a spin painting by Damien Hurst, furniture and accessories by the Art Deco designer Jean-Michael Frank, works by Giacometti, David Hockney, Henri Matisse, Corbusier... the list goes on and on.  View the 130 pieces here.  A snippet of Grange's decadent Paris apartment is pictured above.

-Love the subtle beauty of designer Veere Grenney's Norfolk estate.  I especially love that chintz headboard fabric.

-Today is day 12 of a clean-eating plan I'm trying to follow this month, so naturally all I want to stare at is cheese.

-12 restaurants that prove the Upper East Side (my 'hood!) is cool again.

-Wanting all.of.the.bags.

-So thrilled for Leandra and her big news!

-Current mood.

-The only thing you need to be good at.

And a few gift ideas to get your creative juices flowing for the holiday season...

Enjoy your weekend!

XOXO,

Sam

Friday's Worthy Links: 8.25.17

Today I am off to Kansas City to visit my good friend Lindsay and see her new baby!  I can't wait to be reunited with her and hug her neck.  She was a friend whom I originally met through blogging about 5 years ago.  We instantly bounded over our love for interior design and Mexican food.  Here we are almost 3 years ago to the day at Port Fonda:

Man how time flies.  Tonight we're going to dinner at Corvino Supper Club and out for drinks at The Monarch.  My good friend from OKC, Sarah, will be joining us too!  Before I head to the airport I wanted to share a few links for the weekend.

The Cost of a Free Lunch.  - Raptitude

A few tips for planning your best vacation- and how travel can teach us not to be afraid. - A Cup of Jo & The Everygirl

Sale alerts!  Urban Outfitters is having a buy one get one 50% off on their jeans and Tory Burch is offering 60% off clearance items.  That means NOW is the time to scoop up these, these, and these.

Friday's Worthy Links- 7.28.17

Happy Friday!  Any big plans for the weekend?  I head back to NYC tomorrow morning after a fun week of vacation in Seaside, FL.  I'll be sad to say goodbye to my family (especially my niece and nephew) after such a fun week together.  Thank you to everyone who emailed/tweeted/instagram commented and shared their favorite spots in the 30A/Seaside/Destin area.  I tried to visit as many as I could!  Before stepping in to my last full day on vacation, I wanted to share my favorite links from this past week.

Friday's Worthy Links:

Don't blame yourself. - The New Yorker

Get inspired by these absolutely elegant small bathrooms- My Domaine

Speaking of small bathrooms, this has changed my before-work routine.  I prefer sitting down at my makeshift vanity to do makeup with this now versus leaning over my sink to try and use my minuscule bathroom mirror. - Amazon

I've been reading this book on my Kindle app and have found it so fascinating.  Next up, I want to read this in preparation for the upcoming movie! - Amazon

After receiving the few items I ordered from the #nSale, this was definitely my favorite. I ordered a size small and it fits perfectly.  If you want a looser look, size up. -Nordstrom

What to say (and not say) to a grieving friend. - A Cup of Jo

-How to piss off every New Yorker in 36 seconds. - You Tube

-Feeling particularly inspired by this design firm's portfolio. - Studio Life.style.

-What I wish I knew before I became an influencer. - The Man Repeller

-This resonated with me.  - Raptitude

-I invested in these recently and I can't stop wearing them.  They made a little appearance in a recent instagram snap here, too! -The Frye Company

-Can't stop listening to this song when I get home from work and am unwinding. -You Tube

Have a great weekend!

Sam

Saturday's Links- 6.9.17

Happy Saturday!  I'm so excited to have my best friend from college, Grace, in town for the weekend.  We went to the Polo Bar on Thursday and yesterday we drove out to East Hampton to lie on the beach.  She's my ride or die and I miss living in the same city with her.  We haven't seen each other since New Years!  Crazy how time flies. Before signing off for the week, I wanted to share a few links I love and think you might, too:

Saturday Links:

-The Functional Piece of Art You Need to Brighten Your Home. - Architectural Digest

-3 Women on What They've Learned in Their 70+ Years of Life. - The Man Repeller

-Loved my friend Gabby's article on common decorating mistakes.  She shares easy ways to fix these errors in 15 minutes or less. - My Domaine

-Drooling over the minimalism and simplicity of this vintage Hawaiian cottage designed by Roberto Sosa.  The hexagon tiles in the bath is my favorite part.   Even better is that the cottage is available to rent (for a pretty penny)!  Who wants to go to Hawaii?! - Remodelista

-Digging this sweet two-piece.

-Speaking of two-pieces,  I can't get enough of Mara Hoffman right now.  How great is this number?  And I'm dreaming of the day I can afford this (for now, though, I'll stick with my Target suit).

Have a great weekend!

XOXO,

Sam

Friday's Worthy Links- 2.24.17

It's been a hot minute since I've done a Friday links post and there's lots of inspiration whirling around in my brain, so I figured it was high time to share a few good tidbits with you.

Friday's Worthy Links:

-Anyone else struggling to stay on track with their New Years goals? I for one have been slacking on exercise and indulging in a few too many Javelina quesos, so after a period of self-loathing I've gotten back in to the habit of wearing my Fitbit.  Seeing all your wellness data in one simple app is so helpful and motivates me to get to the gym, get enough sleep, drink enough water, etc.  Read more about how Fitbit has upped my productivity here

-A thought-provoking article on cities and ambition- and why living in a larger city earlier on in your career can make all the difference.

-A steady news diet- is it better to be in-the-know, or healthier to opt out?  Five things you notice when you quit the news

-A kiss cam celebrating unbiased love.  I dig it.

-Just ordered this book from Amazon and I'm excited to start reading.  As Caroline Donofino put it- "Anna, like Oprah, seems to know ALL OF THE THINGS and has an incredible gift for presenting them eloquently and wisely. This book reads like a wonderful conversation with a friend, that will soothe and inspire you time and time again."

-Needing, wanting, loving: this, this and this.  And a great look-alike to our favorite Gucci slides.  Also dying to try these self-tanning drops.  You add them to your moisturizer for a gradual, radiant glow.  If Joanna from A Cup of Jo swears by them, they're good enough for me.

Wishing everyone a lovely, relaxing weekend!

XOXO,

Sam

Friday's Worthy Links- 10.14.16

Happy Friday!  I am in OKC this weekend to visit family and to see my OU Sooners play Kansas State.  My best friend from undergrad is also coming in to town tonight and we are going to visit our favorite Norman, OK spots and watch the game tomorrow.

{image via Bash Please, text via yours truly, of course}

A bit of weekend reading for you...

-Undecided voter Ken Bone from this past Sunday's debate is my new hero.  This week he reported that he is closer to deciding on the candidate he will vote for AND singlehandedly caused an Izod-red-sweater-buying frenzy.

-I am not a good mother.

-Ashe + Leandro works their magic on a cool, Manhattan apartment.

-I found this article about female friendships at work to be absolutely fascinating.

-Only WISHING my dorm room 10 years ago had looked this chic

-Fall hats are my favorite seasonal accessory (as seen here), and this Italian wool-felt option is lovely.  For those who hate winter as much as me, join me in buying this sweatshirt.

-My worst nightmare.

-Michelle Obama is my personal hero.  She launched her Let Girls Learn initiative and this 2 minute video makes me so proud to call her our First Lady.

-Teaching children emotional agility

Any big plans this weekend? Any other OU fans out there?  Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy a pretty, fall weekend.

XOXO,

Sam

-A Look at Simone Rocha's Home in London.

-Adorable animals to get you through Friday.

-A big thank you to Vive for interviewing me for their Innovator Series.  Vive is an app that let's you book blowouts on the go (and at the drop of a hat) at one of Vive's vetted network of salons. Friday's Worthy Links

A few interesting + noteworthy things for you to peruse this weekend:

-Last Sunday marked the 15th anniversary of 9/11.  On such a gloomy occasion, I was touched to read The 9/11 Children:  What can they teach us?

-A popular summer activity in New York is to head out east to the Hamptons and share a rental house with friends for multiple weekends.   This Southhampton home designed by David Netto was featured last month in Architectural Digest and is DEFINITELY the share house of my dreams.

-7 Small Habits That Will Steal Your Joy.

- I couldn't agree more with Man Repeller's post entitled Carrie Bradshaw Almost Screwed Up Relationships for Me.  Translation:  Aidan > Big.  But was Aidan right for Carrie either?  I have my own doubts.  I'm curious to know, what's your take?

-How to be tough

-Who are you really?  So excited to see these illustrations each week on A Cup of Jo.

-Someone please buy me this.

-Obsessed with these custom lampshades Furbish Studio just released.  I want this one for my bedside lamp.

-Although going to the store is cringe-worthy, I do love the occasional piece of smartly-made Ikea furniture.   According to this New York Times article, 1 in 10 Europeans are conceived in an Ikea bed!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Friday's Worthy Links

Happy Easter Weekend/Good Friday!  I'm back home with my family in Oklahoma this weekend to celebrate my nephew's first Easter and to see this cutie, too!  It feels good to be home and enjoying a day off.  I hope you have a great holiday weekend, and here are a few fun links from around the web...

-Can these three words reset an anxious mind?

-This quiz claims to be able to guess your age and income, based solely on the apps on your phone.  (I was impressed the algorithim guessed my age and gender correctly, but overestimated my income by just a bit).

-Next on my reading list- When Breath Becomes Air.

-I've always loved Caitlin Wilson's design work, but this girl's room (also pictured above) is the stuff my tween dreams were made of.

-I ordered this swim cover-up and am slightly obsessed- the tassels are so fun!  Now I'm counting down the days til pool season.

-31 strict beauty standards flight attendants must abide by.  Example- "When leaning forward, restrained hair should remain neat and off the face. A single ponytail may be secured behind the ears and centered on the back of the head. The ponytail should be no higher than the tops of the ears and no longer than the tops of the shoulders." —JetBlue

-David Letterman- what happened, man?

Friday's Worthy Links

What are your plans for the weekend?  I am relaxing tonight, and then headed to Free Press Summer Fest tomorrow and Sunday.  This is my outfit inspiration for the festival.  I'm also hoping to get in some quality pool time.

A few links from around the web I loved this week...

- I love when bloggers are authentic and real- and Bri Emery is no exception. In a very vulnerable (and relatable) post,  Bri has invited us to follow along on her journey to better health and weight loss.

-Speaking of authentic, Sheryl Sandberg's heart-wrenching Facebook post about losing her husband really touched me.  She also sheds light on what you can do to be most supportive as a friend or family member of someone who's experienced great loss.

-I struggle with this all the time, but I'm determined to get better at it. I want to share my life and tell my story honestly and without fear.

-After speaking about all the great books I'm reading this past Wednesday, I'm embarrassed to admit Nicole Cohen of Sketch 42 convinced me to buy this book when she wrote this post (Insert monkey emoticon with hands over eyes).

-I'm a huge Amy Schumer fan, and her acceptance speech for the Trailblazer award at the Glamour Woman of the Year awards banquet was priceless.  It left me in tears I was laughing so hard. Warning- NSFW!

-One of my favorite movies of all time is The Shining.  This trailer shows what the movie would've been like if Wes Anderson had directed it.

Happy Weekend!!

Friday's Worthy Links

A few links for your weekend perusal...

- Saved by the Bell's Bayside High gets a visitor from one of our favorite comedians, and I'm immediately transported back to 1995.

-As someone who recently stepped up her beauty regime, I loved reading about Heather Clawson's skincare routine on Habitually Chic This quote really resonated with me:

"To put this in terms many of my design friends and followers will understand, you wouldn’t build a house and expect it to stand for 8o years without routine maintenance like sanding, filling, and painting and that’s how we should regard skincare."

-Struggling to find a Valentine's Day gift for the man in your life? I recently discovered Best Made Company and was captivated by their useful, boyscout-esque products.  Whether you're dating a lumbersexual or a metrosexual, Best Made has you covered with everyday tools (LOVE this set), clothes, books, camp supplies, and home decor.

-A GENIUS way to discipline your kids.

-An interesting way to avoid small talk.

Happy weekend, my loves!

The View Through My Lens: 22

TGIF!  Cheers to the weekend!  Today is a great day because I have my last wedding dress fitting (eeek!) this afternoon, and we are officially 3 weeks away from the big day.  AHH!
These last few months have been a whirlwind, so I thought I would press pause and share the view through my lens lately...

I can't get enough of my wedding shoes.  I had to snap a pic while on the way to my last fitting.  I've had to be really patient and not wear them for any other special occasion (which has been tough).

Scenes from our coffee table- with pretty roses Sam surprised me with on Valentine's Day! Speaking of Valentine's Day, Sam and I snapped a pic on our date out to dinner:

I always love visiting Boxwood Interiors here in Houston and seeing their gorgeous vignettes.  How fab is this pillow + sofa situation?

Speaking of pillow situations, I'm kind of in love with the feel of my bed situation.  Not sure how long Sam will put up with the femininity of it all, though!

Last week I enjoyed a few macaroons at Petite Sweets.  It was the perfect mid-week pick me up.

As I mentioned earlier this week, the bachelorette party in Vegas was a success!  Here are a few fun pics from the trip...

{My sorority sister flew in from Chicago for the festivities!}

{Lindsay came in from Kansas City, too! My friend from high school, Sarah, is performing a solid photobomb in the background, LOL!}.

Any big plans for the weekend?
