Designer Crush: Betsy Burnham

Sometimes it's hard to face Mondays.  Even if you love what you do, easing back in to the busyness of life after an indulgent weekend doesn't always happen easily.  So today, in an effort to share a little happiness this morning, I decided to revel in the beauty of designer Betsy Burnham's spaces:

These pictures are from one of her Beverly Hills projects.  I love the cleanness to the kitchen design (you know I love an all-white kitchen!) as well as the fluidity with the adjoining breakfast room and den.  I find it sometimes difficult to create individual spaces within an open floor plan, but Betsy manages to do it beautifully here.

The series of French doors open up to a lovely backyard:

Here are a few shots from her Whittier Drive project:

Another dreamy backyard pool:

Her portfolio speaks for itself, showing that Burnham can cater to a wide range of design tastes.  From a neutral, calming palette...

...to a bright, bohemian feel, her design aesthetic is adaptable to her client's desires.  To me, this is the mark of a skilled interior designer.

Burnham often uses steel + glass windows in her design schemes.  How lovely is this bathroom vignette?

Can you imagine how amazing it would be to soak in this tub with a beautiful view of nature out the window?!  Just what I'd love to be doing this morning. ;)

Have a great day, loves!

An Ode to Leontine Linens

Today I decided I would dedicate a post to the source of one of my wildest dreams- to have a bed covered in Leontine Linens.  I love a good monogram, especially on bedding, and Leontine Linens is THE best of the best.  I first discovered the New Orleans-based company when they were featured in Lonny Magazine last year.  Ever since, I've been stalking their website and bedding... just dreaming of the day when I might be able to afford their couture fine linens.  I love how Dallas-based design firm Avrea Wagner paired this bohemian floral fabric with coral linens, featuring Leontine Linen's Gigi Applique Monogram:

Designer Palmer Weiss used the Kinsey Monogram on these pillow shams.  I love the mix of sage green, blue, and pewter here:

How sexy is this room, designed by Suzanne Lovell?  The shams are monogrammed in LL's William style:

Leontine Linens also translates well in a child's space.  Can you imagine the lucky little girl that gets to sleep in this beautiful bedroom?  This hot pink pillow is monogrammed in the Dorea style:

My favorite Leontine monogram styles include the Rayford (for a more modern look):

The Frances monogram with an Arch applique (for a more classic look):

...and how gorgeous does the Frances monogram look on a terry cloth hand towel?!

Maybe from now on I should tell my design clients, "Will work for Leontine Linens."  Aren't their designs delicious?!

P.S.- Have you entered the LoveFeast giveaway posted Monday, worth $175?  It closes this Friday, so be sure and get your entry in! :)

P.P.S.- There are still a few items left in yesterday's "Shop My Closet" post! Be sure and check that out, too!

Have a Happy Thursday!

Albertina Loves: Stripes

So happy to be here at The Peak of Tres Chic again!  This is Albertina from Mimosa Lane, back for our ninth installment of the "We Love" series where Sam and I swap posts for the day.  Today Sam and I are focusing on stripes- vertical, horizontal, black and white or multicolored- stripes are elegant and timeless for both you and your home.  For the home I'm focusing on a less traditional stripe that adds interest to the room and for you a classic black and white stripe with the cutest elbow patches you ever did see:

For the home I'm loving lucite chairs mixed in with fun pinks in the wallpaper and apple green pillows.  A chandelier like this one can only add excitement.  And I would die to have this beautiful floral arrangement at my dining table every night for dinner. It's so romantic and elegant no?

And some stripes for you with this heart elbow patch sweater paired with this perfect black skirtThis cute clutch really goes with anything.

How do you feel about stripes for you and/or your home?  Do you have any to date?

Come see what Sam's favorite striped things are over at Mimosa Lane!

Decorating For Fall & A Beautiful Giveaway!

Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  I hope you enjoyed it!  Today Sam and I are traveling to Austin to take our engagement photos!  The weather seems perfect, and we're excited to meet our photographer for the first time, so hopefully all will go well!  One thing I did this weekend was decorate a bit for fall.  LoveFeast shop was kind enough to send me this gorgeous set of velvet pumpkins and a mini acorn nest to complete the vignette.  The colors are so rich and beautiful.  I added the pumpkin set to my entry table, along with a fall bouquet of orange roses and dusty miller.  It makes me so happy every time I walk in and see it!

LoveFeast shop sells many gorgeous pumpkin sets, in addition to the Cozy Set they sent to me.  I love this Large LoveFeast Set, in rich autumn hues:

Going for a more minimalist feel?  The Large Snow Pumpkin Set comes in a beautiful ivory shade of velvet:

And how fun are these pink pumpkins?! A percentage of the purchase of these goes towards breast cancer research.

In addition to the velvet pumpkin sets, LoveFeast also sells other lovely home decor items, jewelry, and gifts.  I love this picture:

And this earth silk velvet + jute drapery they sell is so romantic and luxurious!

LoveFeast has also generously offered to give away a Large Velvet Pumpkin Set to 1 lucky reader!  The winner will get to pick their favorite set.

All you need to do to enter is this:

1.) Go visit the LoveFeast website and look around for awhile.

2.) Once you find your favorite item, come back to this post and comment below, telling me what it is!

That's all you need to do to be entered!  If you would like an extra entry, you can tweet about the giveaway with a link to this post.  Please include @peakoftreschic in your tweet, and leave a separate comment letting me know you did so.  Good luck my dears! Fall Forecasting: Elegance & Clutter

Hi there! My name is Nicole and I am a blogger over at Elegance and Clutter. I am so excited to be here today on The Peak of Tres Chic sharing my fall forecasts! Thank you so much, Sam, for having me and I hope you all enjoy these emerging fall trends as much as I do.

Wild Art: I first spotted this stunning tiger print in the most recent Elle Decor.  Animal prints add the perfect touch of wild to your home.

Start Pendants:
I love how these
light fixtures give off a funky and whimsical feel.  I’ve been noticing them beautifully utilized in dining rooms, hallways, and nurseries!

Bling Necklaces: I am goo goo eyed with pretty statement necklaces layered over sweaters and button ups. I adore this J Crew stunner.

Batik Pillows: The boho look is in, this is evident.  Batik Pillows are the perfect companion to your chic space and boho decor.  The colors in this pillow are to die for.

Statement Making Outerwear:
Have you all noticed the amazing statement-making outerwear gracing the catwalk? I would love to rock this rabbit fur vest this season!

Cheetah is the New Neutral:
Cheetah is everywhere, and this makes me very happy. I love this clutch and these J. Crew pumps would look great paired with a colorful dress!

Cozy and Colorful Throws: With the weather cooling down, grab yourself a fun blanket! This Jonathan Adler throw caught my eye recently.

Leather Gloves:
Leather gloves are sex-ing up the fall season.  These ones are on my wish list.

Emerald Green:
This deep jewel tone is making appearances in both fashion and decor.  Grab this beautiful West Elm emerald lamp to add a touch of the hue to your home!

Thank you, Nicole, for sharing your fall favorites.  I'm loving all the animal prints in these forecasts!  And I'm always up for adding more emerald to your home!

Fall Forecasting: Colour Bloc

Hello, hello!  For today's installment of Fall Forecasting, we have the lovely + talented Amelia of Colour Bloc.  Amelia runs an art consulting business in addition to her popular blog, has been featured in numerous publications, including The Glitter Guide, and has impeccable taste.

Hi lovely ladies! It’s Amelia from Colour Bloc. Sam, thank you so much for having me over to your bloc for the day to celebrate the rapid arrival of my favorite season.  I'm a huge fan of autumn and am thrilled to be sharing some lifestyle pieces I'm truly "falling" for.

During the cool months I can't image running out the door without my trusty cashmere blend leopard scarf. It's a definite staple for the season and how cute is this one with a stylish navy trim!

With a new home project, wedding planning and client work my desk is covered with contracts and To Do lists. I rely heavily on this elegant, yet functional, notebook to stay on top of things.

In my eyes, jewelry designer Lulu Frost can do no wrong! She blows me away each season with her vintage inspired baubles. I'd love to layer this one over a simple white silk button down and dark jeggings for a classic day to night look.

I purchased a navy leather Clare Vivier tote this past summer and have been wearing it a ton. It's so easy with dark denim and heels or a patterned dress and flats. I may need to add this striped one to my handbag rotation.

How amazing are these Tory Burch flats!? I can't get enough of patent leather shoes and the tortoise shell detail is stunning. This pair is definitely high priority on my fall wish list.

Of course I agree that leopard is the new black!  Thanks for sharing your fall favorites, Amelia!

Fall Forecasting: vmac + cheese

I'm so glad to see you all are loving the fall forecasting as much as me!  Today I have the lovely and stylish Victoria McGuinley of vmac + cheese sharing her take on what's trending for fall.  Victoria is the founder of Vivaleur, a creative services company for bloggers and small business owners.  She also is the co-creator of The B Bar, along with Meg Biram, who will be contributing to the series later this week! In addition to being an incredible businesswoman,  Victoria has a soft and chic aesthetic that I find so inspiring.  Here's what she's looking forward to for fall:

It's no secret that fall is my absolute favorite time of year. What's not to love? Classic pieces like pea coats and brown boats; cozy layers; crisp air; a fire crackling while you enjoy a hot cup of cider. In my mind, it's perfection.

To help Sam celebrate, I rounded up a list of some of my favorite things for fall -- or pieces that make me excited for the season. The artwork of Lauren Adams tops the list -- her seasonally inspired pieces always strike the right mood. This autumn, I'm also hoping to invest in some new boots, and perhaps a fun pair of (simple) statement pants, like these tuxedo skinnies. Even though they're on trend, I feel like a good tuxedo stripe is always in style.

What about you? Which of these pieces strike your fancy?

Fall Forecasting: Savvy Home

Happy Thursday!  Today I am kicking off a new series to help toast goodbye to summer and welcome autumn.  Personally, I'm thrilled for cooler temperatures so I can invest in a new pair of riding boots.  But I also love seeing the seasonal changes that come with interior design.  I've invited some of the top style and design gurus in the blogging world to share their fall forecasts.  Gabrielle of Savvy Home is here today, sharing her take on all things fall 2013:

Hi all, Gabrielle from Savvy Home here, honored to be giving my two cents on Fall trends for my girl Sam. Birkenstocks are back, that's a given. But other, more interesting trends are making a comeback this season. Here is a review of my top trends for Fall 2013.

1. Botanical shapes: In art, home accessories and lighting particularly, there is a definite trend toward plant inspired shapes: leafy sconces, herb inspired napkin rings and botanical inspired art are popping up everywhere.

2. Africa: Not only does it seem like everyone and their mother has gone on an African safari lately, you can definitely see an African influence in homewares (like these Senegalese storage baskets) and fashion accessories. I for one am totally on board, especially when it involves charitable organizations like Indego Africa.

3. Camo: The trend definitely started last year (or maybe event the year before) but everything camo, khahi and parkas are back this season. I'm totally getting myself a khaki parka this fall.

4. Barely there colors: As much as we've gone into color overdrive in the last few years, this year's colors are shy: pale, faded and greyed out greens, lilacs and blues are taking center stage. These storage boxes are a great example.

5.  Black & white: Just like we're running away form bright colors, there's a firm return towards the classic black & white in interiors and fashion. So hide your bright baubles and get yourself a pair of two-tone flats.

6. Sport chic: There's a dress down attitude happening right now with the return of chic sportwear: designer sweatshirts, vintage Nikes, and the ever-popular J.Crew baseball caps are back in full swing.

7. Leather: Another trend that's carried over from previous years but is appearing subtler ways this year is leather. The J.Crew pocket sweater is clearly a favorite.

8. Natural materials: Just as much as there is a return to the casual in fashion, interiors are getting a make-under as well. People are trading brass and lucite for rope-wrapped tables and other natural materials such as rattan and sisal.

9. Chintz: People have been talking about the return of chintz for years and it's definitely back in full swing this year. From designer fabrics (Alessandra Branca anyone?) to summer dresses, there's no escaping it.

10. Brown: Never had I thought I'd say this in a million years, but I've been calling the return of brown for quite a few months now. I even noticed it in (gasp) cars! Mixed with other soft colors from this season, I'm kind of digging it.

11. Shark teeth: It plays along well with the return of natural objects and materials, but shark teeth are making a comeback in jewelry, as are horns in interiors. As long as we make sure these animals stay safe...

12. Shells: Last but not least, I've seen so many shell encrusted stuff has popped up in interiors lately: from mirrors to furniture and even fireplaces.

Love your forecasts Gabby- I am all about the chintz and botanicals!
Thanks for sharing!  Stay tuned over the next week for more fall forecasts.
